The ashram was founded in 1942 by Swami Shukdevanandji Maharaj (1901-1965). Since 1986, Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj is the President and Spiritual Head of Parmarth Niketan. Parmarth Niketan is one of the oldest and largest ashrams in Rishikesh. It is also the headquarters of the Swami Shukdevanand Trust.

Parmarth Niketan is home to a 14 feet Shiva statue on the banks of Ganges. The divine tree of heaven Kalpavriksha was planted at the premises of this ashram by Vijaypal Baghel of Himalaya Vahini. This Ashram is famous for its Hawan and Ganga Aarti that takes place daily in the morning and evening at Parmarth Ghat. The ashram also runs a school, which follows the traditional and cultural approach.

The jade blue Neergarh waterfalls also known as ‘Neer Gaddu’ are located about 5 & 7s km from Lakshman Jhula (Neergarh Waterfall I & II) on Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. These natural waterfalls radiates their empyrean beauty as they tumbles down the rocky cliffs. During summers many tourists visit Neergarh waterfalls to bathe in the cool water of the stream flowing nearby. There are two small bridges erected on the waterfalls having few resting shops in the vicinity. A short trek will take you closer to these pristine waterfall.

The trail for this trek is very beginner-friendly. The entire path is covered with trees, with the water flowing on one side and the mountain on the other.

The entire trek is about 3 kilometers from the highway diversion. Out of which, 2 km can be covered by hiking, or you can even take a scooter or taxi. The remaining 1 kilometer needs to be covered on foot.Throughout the trail, we have a very gradual ascent, which takes you from 1420 feet to 2441 feet. And an average person can complete this trek in 1-2 hours.

Laxman Jhula is not just an architectural marvel but also a bridge rich in history and mythological significance. According to local legend, Laxman, the brother of Lord Rama, crossed the Ganges at this very spot using a jute rope.

There are two suspensions Bridges in Rishikesh, one is Ram Jhula and the second is Lakshman Jhula. Kunjapuri Devi Temple is a Hindu temple located in the town of Narendra Nagar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is situated at an elevation of 1,676 meters (5,499 feet) and offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

Kunjapuri is temple of Goddess Durga , as it being one of the thirteen Shakti Peethas (Power Centers) in Shivalik range and one of the three Shakti Peethas in Tehri district established by Jagadguru Shankaracharya. Other two Shakti Peethas in the district are Surkanda Devi and Chandrabadni.

The temple complex has idols of Bhairon, Mahakali Nagaraja and Narasimha along with an idol of Lord Shiva. Aarti is organized daily in the temple at 6.30 in the morning and from 5 to 6.30 in the evening.
